When couple Naim and Zaimah approached Tariq Irfaan of The Vanilla Project for a post-wedding photo session, they asked if they could wear the traditional Malay wedding outfits they made themselves. “I happily agreed,” says Irfaan. “They were also concerned about the location where we should conduct their session. Most couples will think of popular photo spots to but growing up in an urban neighborhood in Singapore, I felt that we should conduct the session there. The bride and I grew up in the same area and I wanted to pay homage to it.”

Irfaan adds that the neighborhood recently underwent a major aesthetic upgrade and that there were so many interesting features installed. “Most of the designs are eccentric in shape, much to my delight. One of the locations we went to was this oddly-shaped sheltered space in the middle of some high rise flats. What attracted me most were the lines of the structure and how the light leaks inside. Who knew that our small neighborhood in Singapore could offer such amazing photo worthy structures.”
